Education and Communications Coordinator 1.0 FTE
Contract: April 2, 2021 – December 17, 2021
The position is responsible for the following:
- Developing and promoting the delivery of HIV/HCV/Harm Reduction educational materials and presentations within the Sudbury and Manitoulin Districts.
- Coordinate, maintain and build a strategic and effective communications, public relations, media relations, and social media presence for Réseau ACCESS Network in order to best promote HIV/HCV/Harm reduction awareness, prevention, anti-stigma and educational events.
The successful candidate:
- Minimum two years’ experience in developing and implementing educational programs and materials.
- Experience with graphic design, communications, public relations
- Knowledge of marginalized, addiction, mental health and sexuality issues
- Demonstrated excellence in written, presentation, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts including addiction, mental health and other health related providing organizations.
- Proven experience with social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram)
- Experience with design tools (i.e. Adobe Creative Suite) and knowledge of WordPress.
- Superior, effective and professional communication skills (written, oral and visual).
- Ability to question and propose alternatives for communications to be developed and delivered.
- Ability to learn subject-specific terminology for use in developing written materials; knowledge of when and how to use various channels of communication.
- Advanced level of proficiency in MS Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong project management skills with proven ability to successfully take an assigned task from concept to finish.
- Creative, self-directed, results focused and team player
- Must be able to work evenings and weekends when required in a variety of social and physical settings.
Bilingual (French/English) candidates or those of Indigenous decent will be given priority consideration for this position if found qualified.

REPORT AND ACCOUNTABLE TO: Manager of Programs and Services
POSITION PURPOSE:

- Coordinate, maintain and build a strategic and effective communications, public relations, media relations, and social media presence for Réseau ACCESS Network in order to best promote HIV/HCV/Harm reduction awareness, prevention, anti-stigma and educational events.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
RESPONSIBILITIES TO: Manager of Programs and Services
Community Education
- Deliver HIV/HCV/Harm Reduction educational presentations within the Sudbury and Manitoulin Districts.
- Coordinate the development and/or provision of all educational material (i.e., pamphlets, fact sheets, social media and other marketing materials/media).
- Act as a liaison between Réseau ACCESS Network and local community organizations in advancing key affected population prevention initiatives.
- Establish, facilitate, and maintain collaborative partnership opportunities with local community organizations and groups that serve key affected population.
Communications/Media Responsibilities
- Designs, develops and produces marketing and promotional materials for the agency.
- Responsible for the maintenance and content of the Agency’s website and social media.
- Initiate and coordinate media coverage for educational, awareness, fundraising and special events, producing media releases, fact sheets and backgrounders.
- Work with agency management to develop an education and communication plan to ensure goals and objectives are being met.
- Working with the agency’s multidisciplinary team, ensuring responses to social media posts/comments are provided in a timely manner.
Graphic Design
- Assist in the production and/or editing of materials such as agency brochures, program posters, or other reports.
- Work with agency management to coordinate art direction to all graphic/creative communications projects.
- Provide marketing support to the planning of agency-wide events, including fundraising events, to ensure brand requirements.
- Ensure agency-wide communication standards, a consistent image, and graphic standards are adhered to.
Administration
- Develop and maintain tracking tool including contact information, activities, and evaluation of service delivery.
- Ensure that all necessary reports on statistical data (i.e. OCASE, OCHART, Program Plans, etc) are completed and submitted to the appropriate sources by the requested due date.
- Work with members of the Education, Prevention and Community Resources department and/the Manager of Programs and Services to develop annual program work plans.
- Meet regularly with the Manager of Programs and Services to keep them fully informed on program developments, problems and activities.
- Assist with the regular upkeep of Réseau ACCESS Network offices.
- Participate in staff meetings and other staff sharing opportunities.
- Provide input to organizational reviews.
Other:
- Assist in fundraising projects and/or other duties as deemed important and appropriate by the Executive Director and mutually agreed upon.
