Réseau ACCESS Network is a non-profit, community-based charitable organization, committed to promoting wellness, harm and risk reduction and education. Réseau ACCESS Network supports individuals – and serves the whole community – in a comprehensive / holistic approach to HIV/AIDS, Hep C, Harm Reduction and related health issues.

Position Summary:

The Executive Director is the Board of Directors’ authorized representative for all aspects of the organizations’ operations. Responsible for the overall leadership and management of Réseau ACCESS Network, the Executive Director ensures the development, delivery and evaluation of all aspects of the agency’s programs and services. The Executive Director is one of the official spokespersons for the agency and represents Réseau ACCESS Network in matters regarding the media, government representatives and related agencies.

Within the existing policies, the Executive Director will plan, organize and coordinate with personnel, the programs and activities of Réseau ACCESS Network to ensure that the goals and objectives meet the needs of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manages the agency in accordance with all legal and statutory requirements and agency bylaws, policies and procedures.
  • Leads the program management team in the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of the agency’s programs and services.
  • Identifies critical issues which may affect the agency’s plans; develops and implements appropriate strategies in response.
  • Ensures the effective management of the day-to-day operations of the agency.
  • Responsible for overall management of the agency’s assets and financial transactions.
  • Ensures the planning and implementation of short and long term funding strategies for the agency
  • Responsible for the recruitment, hiring and termination of staff.
  • Directly supervises the management team, Clinical and Direct Client Services team, as well as the 2S-LGBTQ+ programs.
  • Works with the Executive Committee to develop or update personnel policies which meet appropriate legislative requirements, staffing and salary levels and to make recommendations to the Board.
  •  Identifies, develops and maintains collaborative, cooperative and effective partnerships with external community agencies in support of the mission and the strategic priorities of Réseau ACCESS Network.
  • Represents and promotes the agency to the community, media, funders, donors and others.
  • Works with the Board of Directors in the development and implementation of the agency’s Strategic Plan.
  • Provides and encourages ongoing professional development and education for all personnel, utilizing internal and external sources, within budgetary guidelines.
  • Ensures the Agency’s activities and operations are conducted safely.

Qualifications:

  • 5 – 7 years management experience
  • Graduate degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Solid working experience in community-based programs
  • Extensive understanding of the complexity of HIV/HCV and harm reduction, in the current context
  • Human resource management experience and applied leadership skills within a team-based environment
  • Program track record in government and community relations
  • Understanding of and experience working with a policy governance Board
  • Demonstrated fundraising management skills
  • Strong commitment to partnership, collaboration and cooperative working relationships – internally, with community partners and with funders
  • Financial management experience
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Fluency in French and English, both oral and written is preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Indigenous communities and organizations as well as an understanding of the effects of intergenerational trauma on Indigenous persons an asset
  • Physical requirements include the dexterity to reach, stand, squat, twist, lift light loads, and the ability to do sedentary work.
  • Must be flexible to work evenings and weekends where required to meet the demands of the role.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of settings.
  • Access to a vehicle and valid driver’s license.
